Abaco Summer Wedding | The Bluff House, Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas | Kerstin & Steve

Kerstin & Steve’s wedding was in August just weeks before Hurricane Dorian hit Abaco. I didn’t know it at the time but this would be the last wedding I would photograph in Abaco for a while. It was the worst storm to hit the Atlantic in known history and left the islands devastated like nothing anyone could ever remember or thought would ever happen. Dorian was the perfect storm, hitting on an extra high tide causing a 20ft storm surge, wind gusts over 225 mph and sitting stationary for over 36 hours. Kerstin & Steve have both returned to Abaco in the aftermath of the storm to volunteer their time and help in the rebuilding process. Progress is being made but after a storm of this magnitude it will take a while for Abaco to fully recover.

Since most of the weddings I had booked for 2020 have had to move location I will be traveling to other islands in the Bahamas and to the US over the next year. I’m looking forward to more weddings in Abaco in near the future!
